Discussion on Organizing Weekly Train Trips to the Archaeological Site of Umm al-Jimal

On Sunday, April 13, 2025, Dr. Zahi Khalil, Director of the Jordan Hijaz Railway Corporation, and Hassan Al-Ruhaibeh, Mayor of Umm al-Jimal, discussed the resumption of tourist train trips to the archaeological site of Umm al-Jimal.

Dr. Khalil highlighted that the first tourist trip organized by the corporation to Umm al-Jimal last year was a significant success, conducted in cooperation with the municipality. The site was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2024.

He explained that weekly tourist trips to Umm al-Jimal will be organized in coordination with the municipality, which will assist in transporting tourists from Mafraq station to the archaeological site.
Mayor Al-Ruhaibeh expressed the municipality’s full readiness to cooperate with the corporation to promote domestic tourism and achieve tourism development in the region.
